After the Framer 3.0 update that introduced AI agents, I immediately knew this would totally change how templates are used.
But many are asking if templates are still relevant when you can build anything from scratch with AI.
I believe templates are still useful for many reasons:
- They serve as a visual base. Way easier to get inspired.
- They save you credits. Generating a good base website can take you a lot of prompts.
- They’re still more visually polished than what AIs produce
In the future, I think the most successful templates will be the one that are excellent to use as a base for AI.
This is why I decided I’ll go this route with my template business.
In the next few months, I’ll rework on my templates to make them the best ones to use with AI.
I’ll keep sharing progress, thoughts, results and learnings.

My strategy has always been simple: create templates that are easy for small businesses to use. And the response from the market has been incredible. Businesses love using my template as a starting point, which contributed greatly to their success.
Today, with the Framer 3.0 update and its focus on AI, I think templates in general became even more relevant. Starting with a template can save a lot in AI credits, so I think there's definitely room for the template market to keep growing.
