What is Core by Streamline?

Core is the neutral icon family in Streamline's Icon Design System. The free version available on Framer includes 8,000 vector icons, while the paid version on our web offers 32,000+ icons.

We were inspired by Helvetica, The Beatles, and Pizza when we designed Core. Its simple construction on a 14x14 grid and legible shapes make it the perfect choice for functional design. With minimal detail and generous inner space, these icons remain highly legible even in small sizes.

Core comes in eight variations:

• Line: subtle and neutral

• Duo: colored line style

• Solid: works great for dark modes

• Flat: colored version of Solid

• Remix: blends the best parts of Line and Solid

• Pop: colored version of Remix

• + Two bonus styles: install to reveal

About Streamline

Founded 12 years ago, Streamline is the only icon system that has all three:

1. Massive, consistent sets so that you never have to draw missing assets or mix-and-match sets.

2. Drawn in-house by a team of eight veteran icon designers, which ensures consistent quality across all sets.

3. Ridiculous obsession with the craft. You won’t find millions of icons on Streamline drawn once. You’ll find one icon improved many times – until perfection.

What typefaces could you pair it with?

Core is the icon equivalent of Helvetica, not just for its timeless quality but also for its rational construction and adaptability. Pair it with similar sans-serif typefaces, especially neo-grotesque ones like Inter or IBM Plex Sans.

What illustrations could you pair it with?

Icons and illustrations can also be paired based on formal characteristics and tone. For Core, you might use a set like New York by Streamline, with simple, abstract shapes and large negative space, or Streamline UX, which offers a more minimalist, geometric approach.

Free version limitations and pricing options

You can continue using our free vector sets for as long as you'd like. All our features—desktop app, web app, and extensions—are free to use. You can upgrade to a premium plan for more assets and access to our larger sets.

There are two ways to purchase:

1. Subscription: Pricing starts at $19/month for a subscription.

2. One-time purchase: Purchase individual sets as zip files and without software support.

More icon sets

If you’re looking for an even simpler style that works best at really small sizes, Micro (Line and Solid) is your best option, specially if you are using a lot of icons and you want them to be quickly recognized. On the other hand, if you’re looking for a more detailed set that can work at slightly larger sizes, Streamline classic sets (Light, Regular and Bold) are a great choice.
