What is the Framer CMS?
Whenever your website needs that content, it automatically pulls the right files from the cabinet and places them exactly where they belong. Allowing the visitors of your website to only see the final, polished design—without ever knowing about all the organization happening behind the scenes.
The best part is when you make one update in the CMS, and it instantly appears across your site, without any extra work needed.
Okay, so now that we know what a CMS is and why it’s useful, let’s talk about how it actually works in Framer.
At a high level, everything in Framer’s CMS revolves around four core concepts: Collections, Fields, Pages, and Lists.
Collections store and organize your content, like a folder. Each collection holds a list of items—whether that’s blog posts, projects, products, etc.
Fields define the type of content each item contains—like titles, images, or links—so everything stays structured.
Pages are automatically generated from items within a collection, creating individual pages for each piece of content—like separate blog posts, product pages, or case studies.
and Collection Lists display a collection and it’s items (or a filtered selection) on your site, such as a list of blog posts, portfolio pieces, or a product catalog. These lists update automatically whenever new content is added.
All of these allow you to focus on the content itself, while Framer handles the heavy lifting of keeping everything in sync across your site.
