How affiliate links work
Affiliate links allow you to track referrals and earn commissions when users sign up for Framer through your unique URLs.
Getting your affiliate links
Once you’re an approved Creator, you’ll find the Links tab in your dashboard. Here, you can:
Get your main affiliate link – This default link cannot be deleted and tracks all conversions.
Create custom links – Generate specific URLs to track referrals to different Framer pages.
Tracking and payouts
The Links tab shows real-time analytics, including:
Clicks – How many people visited via your link.
Sign-ups – How many registered accounts.
Subscriptions – How many users upgraded.
Earnings – Your accumulated commissions.
All affiliate links are powered by Dub, which handles both referral tracking and payouts. Payouts are processed automatically via Stripe, so ensure your payment details are set up in Dub to receive earnings. To manage your payouts, update your payment information, and track earnings in detail, visit Dub directly. How do I track my earnings?
Use the Dub integration to monitor conversions and payouts.
How often are earnings updated in the dashboard?
Earnings are updated in real-time as conversions occur.
Why do I see unexpected higher clicks, leads and sales numbers on Dub?
During the migration from FirstPromoter to Dub, we needed to generate new click, lead, and sale events for each existing lead in FirstPromoter. This may result in higher-than-expected numbers. Rest assured that your revenue amount is accurately reflected in Dub and will continue to update properly as new referrals convert.
What happens to my FirstPromoter data?
We’ve migrated all your lead conversions from FirstPromoter, so your sales tracking will continue seamlessly in the new Creator Dashboard. Going forward, the Creator Dashboard is your main hub for tracking analytics and seeing your actual earnings. You no longer need to rely on FirstPromoter for day-to-day tracking.
You may still see some conversions appear in your FirstPromoter account, but no new commissions will be earned through that platform. All these conversions are now tracked by Dub. Any pending payouts in FirstPromoter — even those below the $200 minimum — will still be processed. You’ll retain access to FirstPromoter for historical records until all payouts are completed.
Will my old affiliate links continue working?
Yes, all existing via-tag links remain active and continue tracking conversions through Dub.
Do I need to modify Remix Links for affiliate tracking?
No, Remix Links are now automatically recognized as affiliate links, so you don’t need to manually add parameters.
Can I track which specific links are performing best?
Yes, the Links tab provides analytics for each custom link, allowing you to assess their performance.
Is there a limit to how many custom links I can create?
There’s no specified limit; you can create as many custom links as needed to track different campaigns or promotions.
Can I use affiliate links in free templates?
Yes, you can include affiliate links in free templates. If users upgrade through these links, you’ll earn a commission.
What if my Contra email is different from my Framer email?
Dub manages all payouts, and you only need to set up your payment method inside Dub. Your previous Contra email won’t affect payments.
What payment methods are available for payouts?
Payouts are processed through Stripe. Ensure your payment details are set up in Dub to receive earnings.
What if my country isn’t supported for payouts?
Dub relies on Stripe to process payouts, so if your country isn’t currently supported by Stripe, you won’t be able to receive earnings directly just yet.
Dub is working on adding support for more countries in the long term. In the meantime, there are a couple of workarounds you can consider:
Set up a US LLC: You can register a US-based LLC and use that to create a Stripe account.
Use a service like Wise: Some users have successfully created a bank account through Wise (formerly TransferWise) that works with Stripe.
Please note that these solutions may involve additional steps or fees, so we recommend doing your own research or consulting a financial advisor.
How frequently are payouts processed?
Payouts are processed 2 months after you hit $200 (e.g. January payouts are processed in March, February in April, etc.)
Why is my sale conversion marked as pending?
When a user upgrades through your affiliate link, their sale conversion is marked as pending for 30 days. This holding period allows time for potential refunds. Once the 30 days pass, the commission is confirmed and added to your payable earnings.
What happens if a referred user cancels their subscription?
If a user cancels within the first year, your commission for that user may be adjusted accordingly.
How do I update my payment information?
Update your payment details directly in Dub to ensure seamless payouts.
How do I handle taxes on my earnings?
Tax handling depends on your country’s regulations. Consult a tax professional for guidance on reporting your earnings.
Can I run ads with my affiliate link?
No, running paid ads with affiliate links is strictly prohibited.
Can I refer other creators to the program?
Currently, the program focuses on referring new Framer users, not recruiting other creators.
Can I promote Framer on multiple platforms?
Absolutely, you can share your affiliate links across various platforms, including social media, blogs, and newsletters.
Can I customize the appearance of my affiliate links?
While the base URL remains consistent, you can create custom slugs for better tracking and presentation.
What should I do if I suspect fraudulent activity on my account?
Contact Framer support immediately if you notice any suspicious activity related to your affiliate links or earnings.
Is there support available if I encounter issues?
Yes, for any questions or assistance, contact us at partners@framer.com.
